DAY 1 MANUKA POINT – HOKITIKA
Driving from Manuka Point Lodge over the Rakaia Gorge and on to alpine Arthurs Pass (2 hrs), first stop, lunch. Then on to Hokitika (1 1/2 hrs). There you can hit the shops. Hokitika is famous for Greenstone (Ponamu) and gold. Evening at Hokitika, taking in the sunset on the beach.
DAY 2 HOKITIKA – FOX GLACIER
In the morning we drive on to Fox Glacier (2 1/2 hrs). This very scenic drive down the Western Coast passing lakes and rain forest with views of the Southern Alps. After lunch visit the Glacier look-out.
DAY 3 FOX GLACIER — QUEENSTOWN
Today we will drive on to Queenstown (6 hours) passing through different areas of interest including, Knights Point, Haast, Makarora, The Roaring Billy Waterfall, and the famous Cardrona Hotel and the Crown range.. For the next two nights you stay in New Zealand’s tourism jewel and adventure capital, Queenstown.
DAY 4 QUEENSTOWN
In the morning you can choose to take any of a multitude of adventure and sightseeing options, a Jet Boat ride on the Shotover River or a chance to explore Queenstown shops and in the afternoon maybe a winery tour enjoying the local wines and superb scenery. A gondola ride is included in your tour which takes you up the mountain overlooking Lake Wakatipu and Queenstown, providing you with amazing views.
DAY 5 QUEENSTOWN — CHRISTCHURCH
9 am start and drive to beautiful Tekapo. On the way we stop off at interesting areas for sightseeing, visit James Mckenzies dog statue on the shores of Lake Tekapo. From the ‘MacKenzie Country’ to Geraldine and across the patchwork Canterbury Plains to Christchurch, where your tour will conclude.
